My main influence is Ed Sheeran. I absolutely
love his music videos, they are very basic, and however they have such a strong
story behind them which comes across in his videos. Ed Sheeran became the big
success he is with his first hit 'A Team', which tells the story of a troubled
young girl, she has a sever addiction to drugs hence the title 'A team' class A
drugs. Throughout the video we are following her as she becomes homeless which
later ends in the girl selling her body for sex so she can scrape together
enough money to feed her addiction. A team is a hard hitting music video
however behind it tells the story of what a percentage of girls actually go
through in life. In contrast Ed Sheerans music video 'Drunk' instead has a
realistic but on one hand humorous story to tell, which involves his
relationship with his cat who ends up being able to talk and drink beer -
however putting the talking cat aside the lyrics relate to his relationship
falling apart this is a topic that many of us can relate to, this is probably
one of the main reasons I love Ed Sheerans music/lyrics because most people are
able to relate to his songs.

I have created a survey for 20 people to complete about Ed Sheeran. From doing this I am going to beable to find out whether people can relate to some of his songs, if they do then what songs? I am hoping to find a pattern emerge, this will help me find out what I should include in my music video- ie the theme, lyrics etc.

Continue to explore why you, and perhaps audiences like you, may enjoy Ed Sheeran's videos. Could you undertake your own primary research? eg. questionnaires, interviews?

Explore the mix of narrative and performance; look at history and context, for example other 'animal' videos; relationship break up videos; other Ed Sheeran videos.
Think in more detail: how do the lyrics interact with the images in the video? How does the music interact with the images in the video?
